“Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups” will arrive in theaters worldwide on Aug. 26, positioning Indian star and producer Yash‘s forthcoming action drama during an extended festive corridor spanning multiple religious celebrations.

The film’s release date – a Wednesday – aligns with Varamahalakshmi, Onam, Eid and Raksha Bandhan, creating an elongated theatrical window designed to maximize audience engagement across local and international markets. The mid-week timing allows the production to capitalize on heightened holiday consumption patterns across regions and language groups.

Accompanying the release announcement is a new poster featuring Yash in dual avatars as the characters Raya and Ticket.

“On the face of it, it might look like a gangster film with all the commercial things, but it’s so nuanced because there is so much of moral ambiguity or raw emotions or dark side of human or certain topics which as an artist or at this point in my life, I would like to explore those kind of things on celluloid,” Yash had told Variety about the project.

The production is one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious undertakings to date. Lensed in both Kannada and English, the film will reach audiences across six Indian languages along with English versions, signaling aspirations for pan-India and international reach. Director Geethu Mohandas and Yash mark their first collaboration, with the film produced by KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.

The ensemble cast includes Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria. The production had previously set a June 4 release date before rescheduling to allow for completion of international distribution partnerships following a CinemaCon presentation that generated significant distributor interest.
