Working Trees to remove 270,000 tons of CO2 in Brazil

Today, through the Symbiosis Coalition, we’re announcing a long-term agreement with Working Trees to remove 270,000 tons of carbon dioxide through their project in Brazil.

Working Trees plants trees directly on active pasturelands across Brazil’s Amazon and Cerrado biomes, a practice called silvopasture that restores ranchland without displacing cattle. In addition to removing CO₂, this gives ranchers an opportunity to diversify their income through timber and carbon revenues. As the trees grow, they provide much-needed shade to the cattle, enhancing both soil health and drought resilience, and ultimately boosting land and livestock productivity.

The approach provides a highly scalable solution, with the potential to expand across millions of hectares of Brazilian ranchlands. It also uses Working Trees’ advanced digital platform to enable ranchers to track every single tree planted, creating a transparent verification trail to monitor impact. It’s a great example of technology helping both people and the planet.
