
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested eight suspected armed robbers and drug dealers in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
In a statement issued on Monday in Yola, the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspects were arrested during a coordinated operation in the Yolde-Pate area.
“On the strength of credible intelligence, operatives carried out a coordinated operation in Yola, leading to the arrest of eight suspects for criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, and the sale and consumption of banned substances,” he said.
The suspects were identified as Bawuro Mohammad, 23; Hamza Hassan, 18; Aliyu Abubakar, 20; Alfa Abubakar, 22; and Fahat Hamma, 20.
Others are Dahiru Usman, 20; Ibrahim Samaila, 22; and Jefe Jostine, 25.
“All residents of various addresses within Shagari, Yolde-Pate and Wuro Hausa in Yola South LGA were apprehended during a targeted operation aimed at dismantling a Shilla criminal network and preventing violent crimes within the state,” the statement added.
“During the operation, police operatives recovered dangerous weapons and suspected banned substances believed to be connected to the unlawful activities of the suspects.”
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabiru Hassan, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and assured members of the public that all suspects found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and warned criminal elements to desist from all forms of unlawful activities or face decisive police action.
