Wildfires burning through the night in southern California covered over 2,000 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).

Aerial footage filmed on Monday showed a helicopter attempting to douse the flames, as vehicles continue to drive on roads that appear to be close to the fires in Riverside County.

Shelters were set up for displaced residents as evacuation orders were issued in parts of the county.

Cal Fire says over 40 fire engines and more than 250 personnel were deployed to tackle the blaze.
