We’re deepening our partnership with Singapore to deploy frontier AI across the nation’s healthcare system. The primary goals of the new collaboration, announced at the Google for Health Summit in Singapore, are to accelerate scientific discoveries, transform clinical care delivery, and empower Singaporeans with proactive health tools.
Working closely with local researchers, clinicians, and public agencies, we share a vision of using technology where it will have the greatest impact: driving medical breakthroughs, helping frontline workers focus on patient care, giving people better ways to manage their health, and expanding preventive care across the community.
Here is a look at how this work is coming to life across Singapore.
Accelerating scientific breakthroughs and local research
We’re establishing a Google Research hub in Singapore composed of local research scientists and software engineers. The group will focus on driving advancements in foundational AI models to accelerate scientific breakthroughs. It will also partner with academic institutions, such as the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, to help nurture future scientific leaders and provide targeted research support.
Google Research will also scale its existing health research initiatives in Singapore. This includes bringing open models like MedGemma to frontline care settings to enable the development of secure, customized solutions while maintaining full data sovereignty.
To advance scientific research, Google.org and Google DeepMind are contributing $7 million to the Philanthropy Asia Alliance’s Health for Human Potential Coalition. This includes $1 million for PathGen, an AI platform that uses Google technology to help countries detect disease threats faster and share data for public health intelligence while protecting in-country data sovereignty.
Supporting clinicians and advancing population-scale health
To support frontline care, Google DeepMind is working with the National University Health System to evaluate our AI co-clinician tool that helps clinicians quickly synthesize information from medical guidelines and literature, and assist doctors with clinical queries as they care for patients.
Additionally, Google Cloud is partnering with NHG Health on a population health program that uses AI-driven predictive insights to forecast health risks, such as chronic conditions, across sub-populations. These insights feed directly into an AI health coach on the NHG HealthBot, using Google’s Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience platform, to deliver personalized lifestyle guidance and preventative care reminders to residents.
Reinforcing commitments to public health
True impact in healthcare requires advanced technology. It also relies on a health system’s ability to integrate AI responsibly, govern it safely, and translate it into human-centered care.
As countries around the world face shared challenges like an aging population and navigating the shift toward personalized and preventive care, pairing our technical expertise with Singapore’s world-class healthcare institutions will help build a future-ready system that serves as a blueprint for scaling AI safely for public good.
