MiniMax has launched Hub, a multimodal AI video generator that consolidates image creation, video, voiceover, music and editing into a single platform. Xu Lüyang, from the product operations department of MiniMax, introduced the tool at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

“We used to open one AI tool for images, another for video, then others for voiceover, music, and finally a video editor to piece it all together,” Xu said. “Now, we simply tell Hub our goal in natural language, or drop in a PDF proposal, a reference video, or an asset pack. The AI agent within Hub will automatically understand the requirements, break down tasks, select models, execute, and verify quality. We only step in to review and tune at key points. It’s not just a smarter ‘generate’ button, but a creative partner that knows how to run a project.”

Central to Hub’s design is a human-in-the-loop approach, in which the tool pauses at key decision points rather than operating as a one-click generator. “The AI agent shouldn’t be a black box, one-click generator. It would pause at every critical decision point for your confirmation. We believe AI should lift the execution burden off human shoulders, but the creative direction and aesthetic judgment must ultimately be left to humans,” Xu said.

Hub also includes “Skill” and “Memory” functions that adapt the tool to individual users. “We can hand over our workflows, aesthetic standards, and prompt engineering expertise to the agent, letting it memorize them so it can execute the tasks on its own next time,” Xu said.

Pan Yuying, MiniMax Multimodal’s head of video content, demonstrated additional capabilities including document generation across multiple file formats.

MiniMax is collaborating with AI Backlot, Shanghai’s AI work lab, with four creator pairs from this year’s cohort using Hub to produce their short films.

Shanghai-based MiniMax develops multimodal AI models and applications, including the AI character apps Talkie and Xingye and the video generator Hailuo AI.
